‘Musicians have gained public recognition as a result of being directly involved in street crime and gang activities’

I chose this quotation because I see it to be biased as it is trying to say all musicians (rap, hip hop) are involved in some sort of crime. This is biased because not all musicians are involved in crime for example, rappers as such as drake are not involved in crime. The writer also states ‘ rap, through materialist boasting and sexualised music videos tells vulnerable young men and women from isolated neighbourhoods that their problems that their problems can be solved by adopting similarly nihilistic personas’ I chose this as this is also very biased as not all rappers, in their lyrics, tell or influence young men and women to adopt a ‘gansta’  lifestyle. Going back to rappers like eminent

 

 

Two Roads – Robert Frost

Robert frost uses the image of a cross road in order to symbolise what is it like for human beings to make difficult decisions.

For example, Frost describes ‘two roads diverged in a yellow wood’ to show a moment of indecision.

The two roads present the walker with a choice. The road that he chooses to take here will impact the rest of his journey. The fact that he is unable to see the outcome of the journey means that he must make a blind choice as in the poem he chooses the more ‘different one’.

This is extended metaphor symbolises the ‘roads’ we choose to take within our lives. It can often feel as though human beings are confronted with an importat choice that will determine the rest of their lives, also when the writer describes the forest as a ‘yellow wood’ he is telling us that it was autmn at the  time, it could also signify a time of happiness. The metaphor symbolise. Moments of indecision.
