Bias: presenting only one side of an arguement
Format: radio broadcast
Firstly they present what is going to be told on the radio today. It starts on the subject of the rise in self harm reports in schools and hospitals, they show us an interview of a 13 year old girl who tells us she self harmed and how it progessed to become more deeper and painful cuts. The show then shows the opinion of a doctor, who is specialised in self harm’s, opinion. He states it is a physiological drive when being in certain mental state. This subject lasts a minute and 8 seconds.
The next story is about a terrorist attack on the famous French comic headquarters, Charlie Ebdo. The office was attached by 3 Muslim men, from their knowledge the terrorists attacked the office because the office controversily published a picture of the Phrophet Mohammed which therefore offended the attackers which drove them to murder not only the editor but everyone in the officer, killing 13 people and injuring 3. I don’t think murder is the correct justification for this matter or most matters even though it is in the qu’aran to never show Mohamned in any form ie: pictures, drawings or actors. They could have protested against the magazine to provoke then to stop showing Phrophet Mohammed. In my personal opinion there was no justification for murder regardless of what the magazine writers did. This subject was 2:40 long.
Newsbeat is aimed at an age range of 13-18; I know this because the broadcast starts with a story on self harming in schools which a person of that age range is likely to be interested in as they are going through school. Another factor is throughout the entire broadcast fast paced music is playing and fast paced music is a popular genre in that age group.
