Act 4 scene 1 summary

In this scene Prospero gives Ferdinand permission to take Miranda, his daughter, in marriage but threatens him that if he has sex with her before marriage he shall curse her so she is unable to have children therefore Ferdinand agrees to this demand as his love for Miranda is much stronger than his want to have sex with her. ‘Then, as my gift, and thine own acquisition worthily purchased, take my daughter’ Prospero accepts Ferdinands request but after threatens to curse Miranda if he does not take heed to his demand ‘if thou dost break her Virgin knot before all sanctimonious ceremonies may with full and holy rite be ministered, no sweet aspersions shall the heavens let fall to make this contract grow; but barren hate’ Prospero states he shall curse Miranda if Ferdinand does not stay patient for list until after marriage.
